DR. VITTORIO MENA

Dr. Vittorio Mena is the sports vision director at Optical Academy in Clifton, NJ. He also serves as an advanced clinical director for Special Olympics Lions Club International Opening Eyes program for the state of NJ. He graduated from Seton Hall University with both a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Microbiology. He received his professional degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2014.

Dr. Mena is on the board of directors for his state association NJSOP. In 2019, he was awarded as the NJ Young Optometrist of the year. In 2020 he received the Public Service Award from Salus University. He also serves on the AOA’s Sports & Performance Vision Committee. He is a regular monthly contributor to Review of Optometric Business columns and enjoys lecturing on nutrition, myopia management, concussion management, brain health, sports vision performance and finance.

DR. STEVE SORKIN

Dr. Sorkin is Director of Specialty Contact Lens Services at Corneal Associates of New Jersey in Fairfield, New Jersey. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry. He participates in many contact lens related studies and lectures extensively throughout the country and internationally on contact lenses, dry eyes, ocular allergies, ocular therapeutics and corneal disease. He has a special interest in difficult to fit contact lens patients, such as those with keratoconus and post surgical cases and manages many patients with complex anterior segment conditions.

Dr. Sorkin currently serves as President of the Essex County Optometric Society and as a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. He is also a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society and adjunct faculty at Salus University. He was named New Jersey Optometrist of the Year in 2018 by NJSOP

 

DR. PRISCILLA SOTOMAYOR

Dr. Priscilla Sotomayor is a graduate of the University of Miami and received her Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University. She completed her residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and in 2012 completed the BostonSight PROSE Clinical Fellowship.  She became a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society in 2016. Dr. Sotomayor is fluent in Spanish. She currently practices at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute with a focus in ocular surface disease and scleral lens treatment.

DR. STACY ZUBKOUSKY

Dr. Stacy Zubkousky is an Assistant Professor and the Resident Education Coordinator at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry.  Prior to becoming faculty at NSUCO, Dr. Zubkousky worked at BPEI, developing its contact lens department. She then worked at a local private practice specializing in custom contact lenses.

Dr. Zubkousky is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society. Her interests include scleral lenses and myopia management including ortho-K.

Dr. Zubkousky graduated from New England College of Optometry, receiving the President’s Scholarship Award and graduating as part of the BEta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.  She then completed a residency in Primary Care with Emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lens at NSUCO.

 

 

DR. DAVID ROUSE

Dr. David Rouse attended the University of Iowa and pursued his optometric training at the Illinois College of Optometry.  He subsequently completed his primary care residency with emphasis on ocular disease at the Illinois Eye Institute and has been in private practice for 30 years in Weston, FL.

Dr. Rouse in a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry.  He has served as President of the FOA and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the FL Board of Optometry.

Dr. Rouse presided over the FOA in 2012 when the prescriptive authority for oral medications was signed into law. Additionally, he currently serves as the Vice President of SECO, Florida’s Federal Advocacy Representative to the AOA, and externship director as an affiliate faculty member at NSUCO.
